SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc., Ingles Markets and the Southern Conference announced Thursday the Ingles SoCon Game of the Week football broadcast package on select Nexstar affiliates for the 2023 season. All nine SoCon squads will make at least one appearance over the course of the eight-game broadcast schedule.

The schedule kicks off on Thursday, Aug. 31, with preseason SoCon favorite and nationally ranked Furman hosting Tennessee Tech at 7 p.m. in its season opener.

The first Saturday game in the package will be Sept. 9, when defending SoCon champion Samford – which tied atop the preseason SoCon coaches’ poll with Furman and is also nationally ranked – visits Western Carolina at 2:30 p.m.

Chattanooga hosts the first of two home games on the schedule on Sept. 16, when it entertains The Citadel. The Mocs will also welcome ETSU on Oct. 21.

Furman hosts its second game of the package when it welcomes Mercer on Sept. 23 in a battle of preseason ranked squads.

Wofford makes its 2023 Nexstar debut when it hosts Chattanooga on Sept. 30. Two weeks later, on Oct. 14, VMI visits The Citadel for the Military Classic of the South and the battle for the Silver Shako.

The final Saturday of the regular season, Nov. 18, will feature a wildcard selection, with that game selected 10-14 days prior to the contest.

Each game in the Nexstar package will air concurrently on ESPN+ or ESPN3.

“We’re grateful to our partners at Nexstar and Ingles for the opportunity to provide linear broadcasts of football on SoCon Saturdays,” SoCon Commissioner Michael Cross said. “The over-the-air coverage will allow FCS football fans to see the exceptional student-athletes and coaches of the SoCon throughout the Southeast.”

Nexstar affiliates with the opportunity to air games are: ECBD (Charleston), WMYT (Charlotte), WWCW (Lynchburg/Roanoke) and WYCW (Greenville/Spartanburg/Asheville). Although not a Nexstar station, WMUB (Macon), Mercer University Broadcasting, will also air select contests.
