Southern Conference Nexstar football package announced

All nine league programs featured over 10-game broadcast schedule

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc., Ingles Markets and the Southern Conference announced Monday the Ingles SoCon Game of the Week football broadcast package on select Nexstar affiliates for the 2022 season. The game broadcast schedule will feature 10 league contests throughout the regular season.
 
The schedule kicks off with on Saturday, Sept. 10, with The Citadel hosting defending SoCon champion ETSU at 4 p.m. The Bulldogs will make their second straight appearance in the Ingles SoCon Game of the Week when they visit 2022 SoCon runner-up Mercer the following week at 6 p.m.
 
Mercer will then make its second straight appearance two weeks later when the Bears visit Wofford at 1:30 p.m.
 
VMI hosts ETSU on Oct. 8 at 1:30 p.m. before Furman hosts Western Carolina on Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. Samford visits ETSU on Oct. 22 at 3:30 p.m. before Furman hosts its second Nexstar game in three weeks when it welcomes Chattanooga on Oct. 29 at 2 p.m.
 
Western Carolina hosts Wofford on Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. The final two Saturdays of the regular season, Nov. 12 and 19, will feature wildcard selections, with those games selected 10-14 days prior to the contests.  
 
Each game in the Nexstar package will air concurrently on ESPN+ or ESPN3.
 
“We value our partnership with Nexstar Broadcasting that has grown our regional over-the-air station coverage of SoCon football in the Southeast,” SoCon Commissioner Jim Schaus said. “This should be a great telecast schedule for 2022.”
 
Nexstar affiliates with the opportunity to air games are: ECBD (Charleston), WMYT (Charlotte), WWCW (Lynchburg/Roanoke) and WYCW (Greenville/Spartanburg/Asheville). Although not a Nexstar station, WMUB (Macon), Mercer University Broadcasting, will also air select contests.

Sept. 10 – ETSU at The Citadel, 4 p.m.
Sept. 17 – The Citadel at Mercer, 6 p.m.
Oct. 1 – Mercer at Wofford, 1:30 p.m.
Oct. 8 – ETSU at VMI, 1:30 p.m.
Oct. 15 – Western Carolina at Furman, 2 p.m.
Oct. 22 – Samford at ETSU, 3:30 p.m.
Oct. 29 – Chattanooga at Furman, 2 p.m.
Nov. 5 – Wofford at Western Carolina, 2 p.m.
Nov. 12 – Wildcard selection*, TBA
Nov. 19 – Wildcard selection*, TBA
