SoCon baseball player, pitcher of the week presented by Holston Gases announced

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford shortstop Ryan Wynn and UNCG starter Jay Miller have been named the Southern Conference player and pitcher of the week presented by Holston Gases, respectively, for all competition from Feb. 14-16. The awards are selected by the league office.

Wynn hit .467 over the opening weekend of the 2025 season, going 7-for-15 over three games in Wofford’s series win over Ohio. The sophomore from Douglasville, Georgia, had two hits, a walk and three RBIs combined in the first two contests of the weekend. The Terriers run-ruled Ohio in the first game of the season, 11-1, over eight innings of play, then won 9-8 in the second game of the Feb. 14 doubleheader. To finish the series on Feb. 16, Wynn hit for the cycle, scoring five runs on five hits including a double, a triple, two home runs, which were the first home runs of his Terrier career, as well as seven RBIs. Wynn is the third Terrier to complete a cycle, the last was Josh Hyman in 2013. His seven RBIs are tied for fourth-most in Wofford program history.

Wofford (3-0) hosts Charlotte on Tuesday before welcoming Army for a three-game weekend set beginning Friday.

Miller opened his junior campaign with a 3-0 win in the second game of a doubleheader against Creighton on Feb. 14. The native of Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada, allowed only two hits in seven scoreless innings. The right-hander faced 25 total batters, striking out nine opposing hitters and issuing three walks before departing with a 3-0 lead.

UNCG (2-1) hosts Wake Forest on Tuesday before traveling to Virginia Tech for a three-game weekend series starting Friday.
