SoCon Baseball Championship schedule changes announced
Saturday play to begin at 8 a.m.
GREENVILLE, S.C. – With sustained inclement weather in the forecast for the weekend, the schedule for the Southern Conference Baseball Championship presented by Holston Gases at Fluor Field has been altered to give the tournament the best chance to be played to completion.
Game 11 of the tournament will start at 8 a.m. Saturday and will pit No. 1 seed Samford against the winner of Friday night’s contest between No. 6 seed UNCG and No. 3 seed Mercer in an elimination game to determine who will advance to face No. 3 seed Wofford, which punched its ticket to the title game with its 7-6 win over the Bulldogs on Friday. Game 12 is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. or 35 minutes after the conclusion of Game 11.
If the winner of Game 11 beats Wofford in Game 12, a third Saturday game will be necessary to determine the SoCon champion and the recipient of the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
Tournament officials will continue to monitor the weather forecast and make additional changes to the schedule as necessary.
