SoCon announces Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week

Wofford earns two selections, Furman and Samford each get one

SPARTANBURG, S.C. –Furman's Brayden Seymour and Samford’s Aaliyah Mbenda have been named the men’s and women’s indoor track athletes of the week, respectively. Additionally, Wofford’s Patrick Green and Sherika Christie have been selected as the men’s and women’s indoor field athletes of the week, the conference office announced Wednesday. 

Selections were made by panels of the league’s track and field coaches and included all competitions from Jan. 28-Feb. 3.  

The Terriers competed at the Tryon Banked Invitational on Jan. 30.  

Green placed second in the men’s triple jump with a personal best mark of 14.96m. The Wofford junior now leads the league in the event by .27m.  

Christie won the B section of the women’s pentathlon at the 2026 PNC Lenny Lyles Open, scoring 3,714 points, which leads the league by 62 points. The performance marks the Wofford junior’s personal record in the event.  

Seymour finished third overall at the Bob Pollock Invite with a sub-4-minute mile. Clocking in at 3:59.55, the Paladins junior leads the Southern Conference and set a personal record as the top collegiate finisher at the event.  

Mbenda ran a conference leading 8.45 seconds in the 60m hurdles at the South Alabama Invite, placing second at the meet. The Bulldogs sophomore now ranks second all-time in school history in the event.
