SoCon Unity Campaign | Jan. 25-29, 2021
This week included five different themed days to showcase and tell the stories of student-athletes, faculty and administration in the Southern Conference to recognize diversity across the league. The conference continues to encourage the use of #SoConUnited on social media to follow along with and participate in the campaign. We encourage individuals to continue using the hashtag and keep the conversation going once the week is over.

Day 1 (Monday, Jan. 25): “We are #SoConUnited”
Showcase the support for student-athletes, administration and faculty through storytelling/social media posts to foster inclusive environments. This day will focus on allyship and support throughout the conference.

Day 2 (Tuesday, Jan. 26): “Speak Up, Reflect and Learn”
Focusing on dialogue, reflection and education is an important step in showing unity and support. Posts will share the stories of student-athletes, coaches and administrators while providing an opportunity to learn about the importance of diversity and inclusion.

Day 3 (Wednesday, Jan. 27): “The Power of your Platform”
Showcase the power of student-athlete's, faculty's and adminstration's platforms to make a difference and stand up against racial inequality and injustice. At 7 p.m ET/6 p.m CT, the task force is hosting a "Power of your Platform" Zoom panel, hosted by Samford's Dr. Denise Gregory.

Day 4 (Thursday, Jan. 28): “More than an Athlete”
Providing a platform for student-athlets to share their stories beyond the stats they put up on the field/court, etc. “More than an Athlete,” will allow for them to talk about and share their experiences as Black men/women or allies. We encourage participants to think beyond race and include the whole spectrum of diversity (gender, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, etc.).
Day 5 (Friday, Jan. 29): “They Did, So I Can...”
To end the week, the conference would like to recognize the trailblazers who paved the way for those who came after them. “They Did, So I Can,” will highlight the trailblazers and their accomplishments.
