SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman women's soccer player Isabella Gutierrez has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Aug. 28 - Sept. 3.

Gutierrez netted the game-winning goal in last Thursday’s 2-1 triumph at Campbell and the midfielder helped Furman to a shutout of Elon on Sunday as the Paladins improved to 3-1-0 on the season. Gutierrez has tallied two goals and one assist through Furman’s first four matches this season.

A health science major, Gutierrez holds a 4.0 grade point average.

Furman travels to face Kennesaw State at 7 p.m. on Friday before entertaining the Oregon Ducks at Stone Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 5 p.m.
