PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. -- Senior  Jacqueline Bendrick (+2) tied for 11th Sunday to lead the 26th-ranked Furman women's golf team (+20) to a share of eighth place in the opening round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at the par 71, 6,017 yard Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.  

A native of Mercer Island, Wash., Bendrick scored a birdie on No. 12 and parred 15 holes to finish the round with a two-under 73.  She concluded the round four strokes back of leaders Agathe Laisne (-2) of Texas and Wake Forest's Letizia Bagnoli (-2) , who each carded an opening-round 69.

Senior Haylee Harford (+4) is tied for 17th after scoring a 75 with birdies on No. 5 and No. 11, and junior Natalie Srinivasan (+6), who paced the Paladins with three birdies, enters Monday's second round tied for 40th after recording a 77 in Sunday's first round.  Sophomore Madison Moosa  (+8) shot a 79 on Sunday to tie for 60th, and sophomore Carly Burkhardt (+9) tied for 68th with an 80.

Twelfth-ranked UCLA (+7) holds a four-stroke lead over No. 13 Stanford (+11) after one round.  Top-ranked Southern Cal (+15), host Ohio State (+15), and second-ranked Texas (+15) are tied for third place. No. 14 Wake Forest (+16) is in sixth after Sunday's round, followed by No. 9 Arizona (+19) in seventh.  The Paladins (+20) are tied for eighth with 35th-ranked Baylor.

The 54-hole tournament continues with a 9:30 a.m. PST shotgun start on Monday.  Furman will tee off of holes No. 10 through 14 and will play in a group with Oklahoma State, third-ranked Florida, and No. 42 Colorado.
