MACON, Ga. – Mercer Women's Basketball senior forward Amanda Thompson was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District IV Team, the organization announced on Thursday afternoon.

It is the second straight year that Thompson has been named to the academic all-district team. She is one of five women's basketball student-athletes from NCAA Division I schools in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Puerto Rico to be named to the district IV team, joining College of Charleston's Cailin Dorsey, UAB's Deanna Kuzmanic, Georgia State's Jada Lewis and USC Upstate's Riley Popplewell.
 
To be eligible for the academic all-district teams, student-athletes must be starters or important reserves with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average. Candidates must also compete at least one full academic year at the nominating institution and be at least sophomores athletically.
 
Thompson is in the midst of a career year with the Bears, having started all 25 games while leading them to an 18-7 overall record and 10-0 mark in Southern Conference play. The senior is averaging 13.7 points and 10.6 rebounds per game and has recorded 14 double-double performances. Thompson has increased her production in SoCon action, averaging 15.5 points and 12.9 rebounds through Mercer's 10 conference games.
 
The Hayesville, N.C., native is a two-time recipient of the SoCon Player of the Month honor this season and has started 122 of 123 possible games in her career at Mercer. An electric engineering major, Thompson is now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-American Teams (first, second, third), which will be announced on Monday, March 11.
