GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman’s Haylee Harford is rated sixth, while Natalie Srinivasan is listed 22nd in the first spring Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking for the 2019 event, which will be held at The Alotian Club, June 7-9.
A senior from Leavittsburg, Ohio, Harford is ranked 20th in this latest Golfstat national ratings. She leads the 23rd-ranked Paladins with a 71.9 stroke average over 14 rounds after tying for 13th to lead the team at the Northrup Grumman Challenge in California earlier in the month. Harford won individual medalist honors at the Lady Paladin Invitational in September, concluding the tournament at nine under, and set a new program low round record with a 63 in the second round of the Cougar Classic.
Harford, who earned a WGCA All-American second team citation in 2017, was selected to the Golfweek All-America third team as a sophomore then earned All-American honorable mention accolades from the publication as a junior. She finished among the top 10 individuals in five tournaments and among the top 20 in seven of 11 tournaments last season and boasts two top-five finishes and three top-10 finishes so far this season.
Srinivasan, a junior from Spartanburg, S.C., ranks 60th nationally with a 72.44 and is second on the Paladin team with a 72.8 stroke average over 14 rounds. She tied for third at both the Cougar Classic and the Lady Paladin Invitational.
Srinivasan earned a WGCA All-America honorable mention citation and claimed Golfweek third team All-America honors during her sophomore campaign in 2017-18. She tied the Furman low-round record at the time with a 65 in the opening round of the 2018 NCAA Tallahassee Regional, where she went on to finish third with scores of 65-71-68=204. The 2018 Southern Conference Player of the Year, Srinivasan concluded the season ranked 26th nationally after leading Furman with a 72.36 stroke average over 36 rounds last year, the second-best single season stroke average ever for a Paladin women’s golfer.
The Paladin duo is slated to compete at the inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur, April 3-6.
The top six golfers from the final Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking in the spring from both the United States and International men and women - 12 total golfers - will be among the 24 individuals selected to compete in the Arnold Palmer Cup. The 2019 event will be the second using the expanded format of United States men’s and women’s collegiate golfers versus their counterparts from around the world.
Using Golfstat’s NCAA player ranking as a base, the Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking awards bonus points for wins and high finishes and a penalty for poor finishes. The ranking also contains a strength of schedule component.
The remaining six men’s and women’s spots for the United States will consist of five committee selections, including at least one non-Division I golfer, and a coaches pick. The balance of the International team will include the men’s and women’s winners of The R&A Scholars Tournament, four committee selections and a coaches pick.
The next Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking will be announced February 28.
