SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman senior Alice Chen has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Feb. 10-27. The selection is made by the league office.

Chen, a native of Princeton, New Jersey, won the Moon Golf Invitational with an average score of 70.33. Chen opened up the tournament shooting a 70 and a 71 on Feb. 19 before posting a final-round 70, topping the field of 74 golfers on Feb. 20. Chen’s first-place finish helped the Paladins win the tournament in dominant fashion, finishing 17 strokes ahead of second-place Old Dominion.

In a field that included Furman’s ninth-ranked Natalie Srinivasan, Chen paced the field with a 211 combined score, beating Srinivasan and ETSU’s Monica San Juan, who finished tied for second, by three strokes. 

Furman returns to the course on Friday, competing in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate  golf tournament in Hilton Head, South Carolina. 

Also nominated: Hee Ying Loy (ETSU), Keri Kenkel (UNCG), Monica San Juan (Mercer), Hallianne Hobson (Samford), Alyssa Morahan (Western Carolina) and Lina Settlemeyer (Wofford).
