SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford guard Jackie Carman has been named the Southern Conference women’s basketball player of the week for games played Nov. 20-26 after averaging 18.0 points per game. The award is selected by the league office. 

The freshman came off the bench and led Wofford in scoring in both contests last week as the Terriers went 1-1. In a 70-53 win over Big South foe Winthrop on Nov. 20, Carman notched a career-high 20 points and pulled down five rebounds. She was 7-of-14 from the field (50 percent) and 4-of-9 (44.4 percent) from beyond the arc and also dished out three assists to help the Terriers remain perfect at home.

Carman, a native of Twinsburg, Ohio, scored a team-high 16 points in just 24 minutes in Wofford’s 60-46 loss at UNC Asheville on Sunday. She was 8-of-8 from the free-throw line.

Through seven games, Carman is second on the Wofford squad with 13.4 points per game and sixth in the conference, though she is the top-scoring freshman in the league. She has scored in double figures in three straight contests and five of seven on the year. Carman leads the conference in free-throw percentage (89.5 percent) and is top-10 in 3-point field-goal percentage and 3-point field goals made.
