Wofford's Wanink named player of the week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford’s Chloe Wanink has been named the Southern Conference women’s basketball player of the week for games played Nov. 6-12, the conference announced Tuesday.

 

Coming off an injury that caused her to miss most of last season, Wanink exploded for 30 points to begin her redshirt junior campaign as the Terriers began the season with an 81-65 win at Georgia Southern. Wanink, a guard, shot 67 percent from the floor on 12-of-18 shooting, including 5-of-7 from beyond the arc. She also pulled down eight rebounds, second-most on the squad, and added three assists and two steals.

 

Two days later at ACC foe Clemson, the native of Cameron, Wisconsin, scored a game-high 35 points, finishing 15-for-23 from the field and 3-for-4 from deep. She added seven rebounds and three assists in the 85-77 loss.

 

Wanink scored a team-high 14 points in at loss at Charlotte to round out the week’s slate for the Terriers.

 

Also nominated: Erica Haynes-Overton (ETSU), KeKe Calloway (Mercer), Nadine Soliman (UNCG), Paige Serup (Samford) and Tess Harris (Western Carolina).
