SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – Sophomore Haylee Harford (+7) shot a 75 Sunday and sits in a tie for 14th at the 2017 NCAA Championship at the par-72, 6,343-yard Rich Harvest Farms. The ninth-ranked Paladins (+49) recorded 13 birdies on the back nine and are tied for 14th place after two rounds.
Harford, a native of Leavittsburg, Ohio, scored three birdies, all on the back nine, to finish the round seven strokes behind third-ranked Jennifer Kupcho (E) of Wake Forest, who scored a 74 on Friday then added a 70 on Sunday to lead the field with an even 144 after two rounds.
Senior Taylor Totland (+12) posted a team-high four birdies on Sunday, including back-to-back birdies on No. 17 and No. 18 to end the round, to card a 76. Totland is tied for 45th place, while junior Alice Chen (+14) scored a 78 and is tied for 59th place.
Natalie Srinivasan (+16), the 2017 SoCon Freshman of the Year, tied Harford for the Paladin lead with a 75 on Sunday. Srinivasan recorded three birdies on the back and is tied for 90th. Freshman Carly Burkhardt (+17) also scored a team-high four birdies, with all four coming on the back nine, including consecutive birdies on No. 11 and No. 12. Burkhardt carded a 76 and is tied for 107th place.
No. 12 Northwestern (+23) holds an eight-stroke lead over 14th-ranked Kent State (+31) after leading the morning wave with a 298.
The Paladins, who tee off at 7:51 a.m. Monday, are part of an 24-team field that is playing under the NCAA Championship's revised format, which was instituted in 2015. The teams were scheduled to play 54 holes of stroke play over the course of three days, beginning Friday and continuing through Sunday. Because of Saturday's cancellation, the teams will play 54 holes ending on Monday, and the top eight teams at the end of Monday's round will move into the match-play single elimination bracket. Tuesday will feature the quarterfinals and semifinals, and the finals will be played Wednesday afternoon.
