SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman sophomore Haylee Harford has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 1-7. The selection is made by the league office.

Harford turned in an 8-over-par 221 at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, which saw 13 of the 17 teams in the field ranked in the top 40 nationally. Harford tied for 21st in the 90-player field, which featured 30 golfers ranked in the top 100 nationally, including No. 1 Leona Maguire of Duke and a pair of top-10 golfers from fifth-ranked Alabama. Just two players in the field finished under par for the tournament.

Harford, a Leavittsburg, Ohio, native, turned in a 3-over 74 and a 5-over 76 in the first two rounds before rocketing up 25 spots with an even-par 71 in round three. She was one of just six golfers to shoot par or better on the final day of competition, as the Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, South Carolina, played tough throughout the three-day tournament.

Furman, ranked sixth nationally, finished sixth at the Darius Rucker. The Paladins return to action at the Clemson Invitational on March 31 to April 2.
