SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman sophomore Haylee Harford has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Feb. 12-28. The selection is made by the league office.

Harford posted top-10 finishes at a pair of tough tournaments to open the spring slate, tying for medalist honors at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic and finishing sixth at the Central District Invitational.

At the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Feb. 12-14, Harford turned in a 1-under-par 215 to tie for first place out of 80 competitors. She opened with a 2-under 70 before carding a 3-under 69 in round two and closing with a 76 to help the Paladins tie for second in the 15-team field, which featured three teams in the top 10, six in the top 25 and 12 in the top 50 nationally.

At the Central District Invitational on Feb. 20-21, the Leavittsburg, Ohio, native finished sixth out of 75 competitors, shooting a 4-over 220 for her second top-10 finish in as many spring events. She opened with a 74 and a 75 before posting six birdies in round three for a 1-under 71. Harford helped Furman win the 14-team tournament, which boasted four teams in the top 50 nationally.

Also nominated: Cameron Little (The Citadel), Loy Hee Ying (ETSU), Hannah Mae Deems (Mercer), Lexi Kershaw (UNCG), Haley Harrington (Samford) and Maddy McDanel (Chattanooga).
