Tarter signs professional contract to play in Romania

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Tianna Tarter has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball player of the week for games played Nov. 14 to Nov. 20, the conference announced Tuesday.

Tarter led the Bucs to three-straight wins with three double-digit scoring games last week as ETSU improved to 4-1 on the season. Tarter opened the week with 22 points and eight rebounds at Appalachian State as the Bucs cruised to a 70-57 win. The 5-6 guard also finished a perfect eight-for-eight from the free throw line.

The senior then scored 13 on Nov. 17 as ETSU picked up a home win over Tennessee Tech. Tarter chipped in five assists, six steals and two rebounds in the game while shooting 50 percent from the floor.  

The Johnson City, Tennessee, native saved her best game for last though, as Tarter dropped 33 points and shot 66 percent from the floor in ETSU’s win over Duquesne. Tarter added seven rebounds, seven steals and five assists went three-of-six from beyond the arc.

Tarter finished the week with an average of 22.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.0 steals per game. In the Bucs three games, Tarter missed just one free throw, finishing 15-of-16 from the charity stripe.

This is the eighth weekly award of Tarter’s career and first since Jan. 31, 2017.
