Chattanooga's McLennan earns first pro win

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team does not get back in action until February, but the news is still quite bright around the program. Several alumnae are making their marks around the world of professional golf.

Christine Wolf ’11 and Agathe Sauzon ’15 earned their Ladies European Tour Cards for the 2017 season. Wolf, a 2016 Olympian competing for Austria, earned hers by ending up 43rd on the LET Order of Merit. Sauzon captured her card by finishing tied for third at 14-under over 90 holes at the Lalla Aicha Tour School Final Qualifying in Morocco in December.

Wolf and Sauzon are not alone on tour. Emma de Groot ’11 had her best season on the Symetra Tour, concluding it 25th on the money list with her runner-up in the Symetra Classic headlining her results. She made it to the final stage of LPGA qualifying, falling just short of earning her card.

Jordan Britt ’15 heads to her third year on the Symetra Tour looking to continue her climb up the ladder. Her top finish in 2016 was a tie for eighth in Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial.

Those four have a new addition, one that’s coming on with a bang.

Emily McLennan ’16 just captured her first professional win. McLennan won the Mulpha Norwest Pro-Am on the Australian Ladies Professional Tour. Her 5-under total at Castle Hill Country Club in Sydney bested an impressive field that included former champ de Groot, Wolf and two other Olympians. She is also ticketed for a season on the Symetra Tour.

de Groot (2011), Britt (2014) and McLennan (2016) were each named the SoCon Player of the Year in their collegiate careers, while Sauzon was the SoCon medalist in 2013.

As for the current roster, Chattanooga returns to the tee Feb. 26-28 at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic. The Mocs are No. 57 in the Golfstat rankings through the fall campaign and No. 58 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index.
