SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga senior forward Jasmine Joyner has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 3-9, the conference announced Tuesday.

Joyner averaged a double-double in a pair of Mocs’ road wins last week with 22.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in addition to shooting 68 percent from the field. The senior center also shot 90 percent from the free-throw line, made her lone 3-point attempt and recorded nine blocks to average 4.5 blocks per game.

On Wednesday at Samford, Joyner nearly posted a double-double in the Mocs’ 77-61 win after she tallied game-highs in points (20), rebounds (9) and blocks (5). The Southaven, Miss., native shot 7-for-12 from the field and went 6-for-7 from the charity stripe to lead the Mocs to victory.

Against Mercer on Saturday, Joyner recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 24 points, 12 rebounds and sunk 10-of-13 attempts from the field. The nation’s leading shot blocker (63) also swatted four Mercer field goal attempts in the Mocs’ 74-56 victory in Macon, Ga.

Joyner is currently ninth in the SoCon in scoring (12.2 ppg), second in rebounding (9.5 rpg), first in blocks (3.9 bpg) and third in field goal percentage (.474). Her five double-doubles this season is also good for third in the conference.

Chattanooga (9-9, 2-0 SoCon) will look to extend its SoCon regular-season win streak to 11 games as the Mocs will challenge ETSU (9-8, 1-1 SoCon) on Saturday, Jan. 14 in Chattanooga, Tenn., with tip-off scheduled for 2 p.m.

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Shamauria Bridges (ETSU), Whitney Bunn (Furman), Nadine Soliman (UNCG), Hannah Nichols (Samford) and Grayson Pinholster (Wofford).
