Samford sixth at USA Intercollegiate

MOBILE, Ala. – Samford sophomores Madeline Davis and Emily Uhland are both in the top 10 after the first day of the USA Intercollegiate for women's golf, held Saturday at Magnolia Grove.

Davis is tied for fifth in the 55-player field after shooting an even-par first round of 72. Uhland is tied for seventh in the tournament with a first-round score of 73.

As a team, Samford sits in sixth place with a team score of 304. Eastern Kentucky leads the field with a score of 294. Southern Mississippi is in second place at 295.

The individual leader of the tournament is Emilie Simmons from Eastern Kentucky with a 4-under-par 68. Chanelle Avaricio from Alabama State is in second with a score of 70 in Saturday's first round.

Behind Davis and Uhland for Samford, senior Haley Harrington is in a tie for 38th with a first-round score of 79. Junior Kate Collom is in a tie for 44th after firing an 80 on Saturday. Sophomore Anna Buchanan posted a first-round score of 81, tying her for 48th.

Samford golfers playing as individuals were sophomore Crockett Floyd and freshman Hallianne Hobson. Floyd and Hobson both tied for 24th with first-round scores of 76.
