SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman freshman Haylee Harford has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 2-8. The selection is made by the league office.

Harford tied for ninth at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, shooting a 5-over-par 218 over three rounds. After opening with a 3-over 74 on Friday, the rookie from Leavittsburg, Ohio, added rounds of 72 in each of the next two days.

Harford helped the Paladins to a 12th-place finish in the 17-team field, which included 12 top-50 teams, including each of the top five teams in the country. There were 30 top-100 players in the 90-player field, and Harford finished ahead of 23 of them.

Harford leads the Paladins and is third in the SoCon with a 73.61 stroke average this season.

Furman returns to the course this Friday for the three-day 3M Jaguar Invitational in Augusta, Ga.

Also nominated: Cameron Little (The Citadel), Anna Buchanan (Samford), Emily McLennan (Chattanooga) and Kim Mitchell (Western Carolina).
