UTC's McLennan named Women?s Golfer of the Week

Chattanooga, McLennan lead Kiawah Island Classic

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga senior Emily McLennan has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 16-22. The selection is made by the league office.

McLennan tied for second to pace all SoCon golfers at the Low Country Intercollegiate, hosted by Wofford at Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C. McLennan shot a 4-over 148 over two rounds to finish two strokes off the winning pace. The Queensland, Australia, native shot an opening-round 75 Saturday before closing with a 1-over 73 on Sunday for her fourth top-five finish of the academic year and 11th of her career.

Chattanooga finished second in the 18-team field.

The weekly award is the second of the season for McLennan, the 2013 SoCon Freshman of the Year and 2014 SoCon Championship medalist. She has won weekly honors four times in her career, tied for second-most in league history.

The Mocs return to the course Monday and Tuesday at the Henssler Financial Intercollegiate at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Ga.

Also nominated: Cameron Little (The Citadel), Natalia Asensio (UNCG), Emily Uhland (Samford) and Nicole Chin (Wofford).
