SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga senior Emily McLennan has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Feb. 24 to March 1. The selection is made by the league office.

McLennan shared medalist honors at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic, the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country. The Queensland, Australia, native shot a 6-under 210 over the course of the three-day event to share the top spot in the massive 216-golfer field at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort.

The 2013 SoCon Freshman of the Year and 2014 SoCon medalist fired a 4-under 68 in Sunday’s opening round to claim the lead after day one. A day-two 75 dropped her into a tie for third, but McLennan bounced back with a 5-under 67 in the third round to grab a share of third career title. The 5-under 67 matched her career-low round, while her 6-under total was the second-best 54-hole score of her career. She played 50 of those 54 holes at par or better.

McLennan helped the Mocs take second place in the 41-team field, which featured nine squads ranked in the top 100. The top-three finish was Chattanooga’s sixth straight.

Chattanooga is back in action at the UNF Collegiate in Jacksonville, Fla., on March 7-8.
