SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU guard Tianna Tarter has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 29 through Dec. 5, the conference announced Tuesday.
Tarter garners her second consecutive player of the week honor after averaging 28.0 points, while shooting 58 percent from the field in the Bucs’ pair of games last week. In ETSU’s 77-74 loss at Austin Peay on Wednesday, the junior guard totaled 31 points after shooting 12-of-19 from the field and added four steals. In the Bucs’ 76-56 win over Davidson on Saturday, Tarter recorded her third straight game with at least 20 points, tallying 25 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals to lead ETSU to its fourth win of the season. The Johnson City, Tenn., native currently leads the SoCon in points per game, averaging 18.8 points per contest, and has made at least eight field goals in the last three games for the Bucs. Tarter currently ranks 8th in the nation in free-throw attempts (59) and 11th in free-throws made (41).
ETSU (4-4) will travel to Buies Creek, N.C., tonight to take on the Fighting Camels of Campbell University with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m. (ET).
