ETSU?s Tarter Named Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU guard Tianna Tarter has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 22-28, the conference announced Tuesday.

Tarter led the Bucs last week, averaging 14.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists in three contests against Appalachian State, Northern Kentucky and Murray State. The junior guard shot 14-of-30 (.467) from the field and made 15-of-21 field goal attempts in addition to five steals last week. In the Bucs’ 71-68 loss against Appalachian State on Wednesday, Tarter led all ETSU scorers with 19 points and nearly grabbed a double-double with eight assists. The Johnson City, Tenn., native’s peak performance came in the Bucs’ 79-60 win over Murray State on Monday as she claimed her first double-double of the season with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Tarter also shot 8-for-12 (.667) from the field, adding seven assists and two steals to help snap a two-game losing streak for the Bucs.

ETSU (3-3) will take on Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tenn., on Wednesday, Nov. 30 with tipoff scheduled for 5:15 p.m. (ET).

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Le’Jzae Davidson (Furman), KeKe Calloway (Mercer), Hannah Nichols (Samford), Jasmine Joyner (Chattanooga), Sherae Bonner (Western Carolina) and Kentra Washington (Wofford).
