SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Western Carolina’s Sherae Bonner has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 11-14, the conference announced Tuesday.
Bonner posted a double-double in the Catamounts’ 78-63 loss at Clemson on Sunday and set a career-high 23 points to lead all scorers. The Whitesburg, Ga., native also grabbed a game-high 19 rebounds and was the only player to see double-digit rebounds. Bonner went 9-of-17 (.529) from the field, made all five free throw attempts and added two blocked shots in the Catamounts’ season opener.
Western Carolina (0-1) returns home Wednesday evening as they host UT Martin at 5 p.m (ET).
Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Tianna Tarter (ETSU), Keke Calloway (Mercer), Nadine Soliman (UNCG), Kassidy Blevins (Samford), Jasmine Joyner (Chattanooga) and Chloe Wanink (Wofford).
