SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Tianna Tarter has been named the Innovative Office Solutions Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 12-18, the league office announced Tuesday. The sophomore guard averaged 25.0 points, 6.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game as she helped the Bucs to two home SoCon wins last week.

On Thursday, Tarter powered ETSU past UNCG, 89-73, by pouring in a career-high 33 points on 12-of-19 shooting.  She was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line in the win, adding six assists, six steals and three rebounds. Tarter tallied 17 points, seven rebounds and seven assists two days later in a 74-62 win over Western Carolina. The Johnson City, Tenn., product was 11-for-12 from the charity stripe in the victory.

Tarter has scored at least 20 points in three of the Bucs’ last four games and is the SoCon’s second-leading scorer in conference action with an average of 25.0 points per game. She has also posted a conference-leading 2.5 steals per game in league contests. This is her second Innovative Office Solutions Player of the Week honor of the season.

Tarter and the Bucs (11-8, 3-1 SoCon) will return to the hardwood when they travel to Samford (10-8, 2-1 SoCon) on Thursday for a 7 p.m. EST tipoff.
