SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Tianna Tarter has been named Southern Conference women’s basketball player of the week for games played Dec. 15-21, the league office announced Tuesday. The sophomore guard averaged 21.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.0 steals per game in three Bucs wins this past week.

Tarter, a product of Johnson City, Tenn., began the week by posting 17 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals in a 70-55 home win over Campbell last Wednesday. She then notched a career-high 26 points in a 65-58 triumph at Davidson on Friday, adding 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals in the win. Her 26 points came on 8-of-15 shooting. On Monday, Tarter put forth a team-high 22 points in ETSU’s 80-76 home victory over Austin Peay. She also tallied three boards, three assists and three steals in 37 minutes of action, giving her an assist-turnover ratio of 3.6 for the week.

ETSU is 5-0 with Tarter in the starting lineup this season. She missed eight games in the early part of the Bucs’ slate due to injury.

The Bucs will be back in action at Iona on Dec. 29 following a brief holiday break. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.

Other nominees: Moses Johnson (Chattanooga), Kahlia Lawrence (Mercer), Amara Mayers (Samford), Lucy Mason (UNCG) and Kentra Washington (Wofford).
