Aleksandravicius Named Player of the Week

Women's Basketball Player of the Week Announced

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Davidson’s Sophia Aleksandravicius has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games through February 18, the league office announced today, her third honor of the season.

The senior had a memorable week in leading Davidson to wins at home against Furman (W, 71-49) and Wofford (W, 67-54) as she registered the program’s first unofficial triple-double. The forward averaged 23 points and 9.5 rebounds, while shooting a blistering 69.6 percent on 16-of-23 shooting and blocked 13 shots (6.5 per game). She started the week off with her first career triple-double going off for 20 points, 10 rebounds and a new single-game school record 10 blocks in leading Davidson to a big 71-49 win vs. Furman. Aleksandravicius followed up that stout game with a 26-point, nine-rebound and three-block contest in a 67-54 win at home against Wofford on Monday. The senior, who got into foul trouble in the first half, scored 20 of her 26 points in the second half, and finished the game shooting a season-best 11-of-13 from the field with a perfect 4-for-4 showing at the charity stripe.

Aleksandravicius is averaging team bests of 15.6 points and 9.9 rebounds (tops in the SoCon) to go with a SoCon-best 73 blocks. Her two 20-point outings gave her five for the season and 23 for her career. Aleksandravicius has won this weekly award twice already this season, Jan. 8 & Jan. 28, and four times in her career.
