Afreyea Tolbert Named Women's Basketball Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - College of Charleston's Afreyea Tolbert has been named the Southern Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games through February 11, the league office announced today.

Tolbert posted her third double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Cougars as they handed Davidson just their second conference loss of the season. The junior shot 64 percent (9-14) from the field in the game. In a win at Georgia Southern, the Teaneck, N.J., native tallied 10 points, six rebounds, three assists and one steal. Tolbert has scored in double-figures in each of the Cougars' last four games to lead the team to a 3-1 record in that stretch.

Other top performers last week were Appalachian State's Anna Freeman, Davidson's Sophia Aleksandravicius, Samford's Jazmine Martin, and Chattanooga's Kayla Christopher.
