SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG forward Janae’ Stevenson has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Elon’s Lauren Brown was selected as the CRONS Freshman of the Week for the week of Nov. 26, the league office announced Tuesday.
Stevenson averaged a double-double and shot 50 percent from the floor in two UNCG wins last week to earn Player of the Week honors. The senior from Columbia, S.C., scored a career-high 24 points and pulled down 15 rebounds, also a career-high, in a 73-66 win on the road against Norfolk State. Stevenson posted a 10-point and 10-rebound double-double in UNCG’s 54-56 win over College of Charleston on Saturday. At week’s end, Stevenson averaged 17 points and 12.5 rebounds per contest and currently has a three-game double-double streak intact.
