SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford’s Daniella
Motley has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the
Week for all games through December 17, her second honor of the season.
Motley,
a center/forward from Christiansburg, Va., earned her third double-double of
the season in Wofford’s 58-52 win over Alabama. It was her second in as many
games with 13 points and 15 rebounds against the Tide and her 15 rebounds tied
a career-high. She leads the SoCon in
rebounds per game at 10.5 and is one of only two players in the conference that
averages a double-double on the season.
Motley averages 10.8 points per game.
The
Terriers were 0-8 heading into the match up against teams from the SEC before
the Monday’s milestone win. It is the
program’s second win over a program from the BCS. Wofford defeated
Louisiana-Lafayette on November 16, 2001.
Other
top performers last week were Davidson’s Sophia Aleksandravicius, Elon’s Kelsey
Evans, UNCG’s Lucy Mason, and Chattanooga’s Ashlen Dewart.
