Elon Announces 2004 Softball Schedule

ELON, NC -- Elon University head softball coach Patti Raduenz today announced the 2004 schedule for the Phoenix. The first season of Southern Conference play for the Phoenix will be highlighted by three tournaments: The Triangle Classic, Elon Invitational and The Elon Phoenix Classic (Mar. 12-14).

The 2004 year will begin with a trip to The Triangle Classic (Feb. 13-15) tournament hosted by North Carolina. The tournament is played at Walnut Creek in Raleigh, NC. The Elon Invitational (Feb. 20-22), played at the new Burlington softball complex, will be next on the Phoenix' schedule.

The home schedule will open on Feb. 25 when North Carolina State visits East Field. Delaware State, St. Francis, Charlotte, Gardner-Webb and East Carolina will all pay a trip to East Field for non-conference action in 2004.

In road non-conference action, Elon will battle Campbell, Stetson, Bethune-Cookman, South Florida and North Carolina A&T.

The Phoenix will host Appalacian State for its first-ever Southern Conference games on Mar. 9-10. College of Charleston and Furman will also play at East Field for league play. Elon will travel to East Tennessee State, Georgia Southern, Chattanooga and UNC Greensboro for SoCon play this season.
