Reed, Meek Named SoCon Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week Print SPARTANBURG, SC -- The Southern Conference today named its Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week for April 23. Chattanooga catcher Jennifer Reed was named the Player of the Week, as her teammate, freshman Sara Meek, earned the Pitcher of the Week award.A freshman from Chattanooga, TN, Reed led the Mocs for the week with a .667 batting average with five runs batted in. In a weekend in which Chattanooga swept conference opponent Furman, Reed tallied three doubles and a triple while scoring four. She went 6-for-9 in the three-game series with a 1.222 slugging percentage. For the season, Reed leads the Mocs with a .360 batting average.Meek, a freshman from Brentwood, TN, started off Chattanooga's weekend sweep of Furman with a complete game, three-hit shutout. She raised her season record to 13-9, while pitching her third shutout of the season and her twelfth complete game. For the weekend, Meek's ERA was a 0.00.
