Chattanooga To Host Sonic Challenge

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Chattanooga's softball team will host four teams --
Virginia Tech, Indiana State, Ball State and Eastern Kentucky -- in the
annual Sonic Challenge, which will be played Friday through Sunday at Frost
Stadium.

Chattanooga (5-8) will be looking to extend its two-game winning streak
starting Friday at 4:45 p.m. against Virginia Tech. Later that night at 7,
UTC takes on Eastern Kentucky. On Saturday and Sunday, the Lady Mocs meet
Ball State at 2:30 p.m. and Indiana State at 4:45 both days.

The Lady Mocs lost their first six games, but have played better of late
(five wins in seven tries) with wins over #19 Georgia Tech, Southern Miss,
Birmingham Southern and back-to-back five-inning shutouts over Tusculum.

Leslie Barron currently tops the squad in hitting at .400, and freshman
Jennifer Reed is also swinging a hot bat at .308. Reed has a pair of homers
and leads the squad with eight RBIs. Jada Pescatore has driven in six runs
and drilled a pair of homers.

Most of the Sonic Challenge games will be played at Frost Stadium, but two
games are slated for nearby Hargraves Field.
