Chattanooga Hosts Blue-Gold Game

Softball fans can get an early glimpse of the Chattanooga Lady Mocs as the
team concludes its fall practice schedule with the annual Blue-Gold
intrasquad game on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Frost Stadium. A picnic sponsored
by the RBI Club will be held immediately after the game.

The team will be split into equal squads and will play up to 10 innings of
softball with pitchers switching teams halfway through the game.

The Lady Mocs are coming off their seventh Southern Conference Tournament
championship in 2003 and return 12 players, including SoCon Tournament MVP
Melissa Ramirez and Southern Conference Freshman of the Year Jennifer Reed.

Three former players will join the team to play in the scrimmage --
shortstop Jill Crawford-Higdon, second baseman Dana Reed and center fielder
Paige Cochrane.

Chattanooga finished 37-30 in 2003, which included its fourth consecutive
trip to the NCAA Regional Tournament. The 2004 season begins in early
February with a trip to Gainesville, Fla., to play in the Florida Gator
Invitational. UTC will hosts its two annual in-season tournaments in 2004
-- the Sonic Challenge (Feb. 20-22) and the Frost Classic (Feb. 27-29).
