SPARTANBURG, SC – Liberty midfielder
Manuel Vitorino and Wofford goalkeeper
Evan Morris were named Southern Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for matches played from September 29-October 5.
Vitorino (Casais Garridos, Portugal) powered Liberty to a 3-0 SoCon win over Mercer that put the Flames atop the SoCon standings in early October. He came off the bench to drop off an assist to Goncarlo Sousa in the 64
th minute for a 2-0 Flames’ lead, then scored his first goal of the season in the 71
st minute for the final margin.
Morris (Fort Mill, SC) was sterling in Wofford’s 1-0 win over VMI, stopping all four shots he faced in 90 minutes of action. His save in the 81
st minute proved critical, preserving the win for the Terriers. It was the first clean sheet of the season for Morris.
