SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG’s Jaila Lee has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played on Jan. 6-12.
The senior guard turned in two performances this week, helping the Spartans secure victories to open the conference slate.
Lee averaged 16 points per game across the two contests. Against Samford on January, Lee matched her career high with 17 points, shooting 4-for-9 from the field and 3-for-5 from three-point range. She added two steals and went a perfect 6‑for‑6 at the free‑throw line, setting the tone in a 73–64 road win.
She followed that performance with 15 points in the Spartans’ 76–59 victory over Mercer on January 10, finishing 4‑for‑6 from the floor and again converting all six of her free‑throw attempts. Lee also contributed five rebounds, two assists, and one block, rounding out a balanced effort in 20 minutes of action.
For the week, Lee shot 53.3% from the field, 57.1% from three, and 100% from the free‑throw line, going a perfect 12‑for‑12 at the stripe.
Lee ranks third among Spartans in points per game (8.9) and is tied for fourth on her team in assists per game (1.8).
UNCG will take a trip to South Carolina for week 2 of conference play, facing Furman on Jan. 15 and Wofford on Jan. 17.
