East Tennessee State University softball dropped both contests in a doubleheader, 9-1 and 5-1 against USC Upstate on Tuesday.
The Buccaneers' offense struggled against the now 26-6 Spartans pitching staff. ETSU managed just six hits across the two games, five of which came in the opener.

Western Carolina softball opened a busy week of home action on Tuesday using late-game heroics to walk off Gardner-Webb 4-3 in game one of the nonconference doubleheader before jumping out to an early lead but needing more late-game offense to complete the sweep 8-6 at the Catamount Softball Complex.
Chattanooga 1, Kennesaw State 0 (8 innings)
A wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth drove in the game winning run for Chattanooga who came away with a 1-0 win over Kennesaw State Tuesday evening at Frost Stadium.
In a defensive battle that saw just three combined hits, the game headed to extra innings deadlocked at 0-0.
