SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Gianna Corbitt has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 2-8.
Corbitt scored a career-high 30 points in the Mocs’ win over Bellarmine on Dec. 7. The sophomore forward shot 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the field, including five three-pointers, and added 83.3 percent (5-of-6) from the charity stripe.
The Oakland Park, Florida, native now leads the conference in points per game (14.8) and steals per game (2.2). Corbitt ranks second in the SoCon in field goal percentage (55.9) and free throw percentage (87.1).
This is Corbitt’s second weekly honor of the season, and the third consecutive nod for a Mocs player.
Chattanooga hits the court against Tennessee State on Dec. 11.
