Forward averages a double-double for the Spartans

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG forward Justin Neely has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all contests from Nov. 17-23. The award is selected by the league office.
 
Neely had 19 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a steal in the Spartans’ 101-94 setback at Queens on Nov. 20. Three days later, the graduate student logged a double-double, finishing with 16 points, 16 rebounds, which was a career high, three assists, three steals and a block in UNCG’s 68-62 victory over Youngstown State. The native of Miami Beach, Florida, helped the Spartans erase a 21-point deficit in their win on Nov. 23 versus Youngstown State.

 

For the week, Neely averaged 17.5 points, 12 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Neely shot 58.8 percent from the floor in the team’s two contests.

 

UNCG (1-5) plays against Delaware on Tuesday and Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday as part of the Jacksonville Classic at Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Florida.
