SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer outfielder Ty Dalley and Samford right-hander Alex Flood have been named the Southern Conference baseball player and pitcher of the week, respectively, for all competition from March 25-31. The awards are selected by the league office.

Dalley hit .533 (8-of-15) last week with five home runs, 11 RBIs and seven runs scored in Mercer's series with Seton Hall. The Vidalia, Georgia, native, recorded a .533 on-base percentage and a 1.533 slugging percentage (2.066 OPS) after belting three home runs in the series opener. He added two more homers and seven RBIs in game two of the series, a 14-7 win for the Bears, and tallied an RBI single in the series finale.

Flood was key in leading Samford to its first combined no hitter since 2002, tossing five innings without allowing a hit in last Saturday’s (March 29) 14-0 win over Longwood. The right-hander struck out five of the 20 batters he faced, while teammates Heath Clevenger and Cole Fryman pitched the final two innings. Flood leads the Bulldogs’ pitching staff with a 2.60 ERA in seven appearances on the season and has struck out 19 batters over 17.1 innings.

Mercer (15-11, 1-2 SoCon) will host Kennesaw State in a midweek contest on Tuesday (April 2), before opening a three-game conference road swing at ETSU (17-9, 3-3) over the weekend. Samford (18-9, 3-0), will host Alabama on Tuesday and visit The Citadel (15-11, 0-6), for a three-game series, Friday-Sunday (April 5-7).
