CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga's
Taylor Long was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Pitcher of the Week, the organization announced today.
Long went 2-0 last weekend at the Adam Brown Memorial Shamrock Classic hosted by Central Arkansas in Conway. She posted a 0.00 ERA and struck out 16 through 11 2/3 innings.
The Calhoun, Ga., native got the start in the opening game Friday night against the host Bears and pitched a complete game shutout, striking out eight and walking five. On Saturday she came on in relief for the final 4 1/3 innings against Central Arkansas, picked up her second win of the weekend and seventh of the season. Long allowed one hit, walked two and struck out seven batters.
She finished out the weekend Sunday striking out the final Saint Francis batter in a 13-4 five-inning game win for the Mocs.
Long was named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week Monday for her performance.
Chattanooga swept the weekend, taking all four games. The Mocs are on the road this weekend to The Spring Games in Madeira Beach, Fla. Action begins Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. against Troy.
