UNCG’s Romfo named SoCon Women’s Golfer of the Week

Junior Earned her First Collegiate Title

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG’s Ava Romfo has been selected as the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 6 – March 12. The selection is made by the league office.
 
Romfo carded a 3-under-par 213 (67-72-74) and led wire-to-wire en route to earning her first collegiate title with the individual win at the Puerto Rico Classic in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Her first-round 5-under 67, which included six birdies and an eagle, marked a career-best round for the Charleston, South Carolina native.   

She wrapped up the tournament with a final round two-over-par (74) score and tied for first with 12 birdies at the tournament. Romfo was one of only six golfers to reach par or better over the three-day event.

UNCG will travel to Hilton Head, South Carolina, March 15-17, for the Low Country Invitational.
