SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG guard Keyshaun Langley has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all contests from Jan. 29-Feb. 4 after averaging 23.5 points per game last week. The award is selected by the league office.
 
Langley, who won the award on Nov. 20, led UNCG to two conference road wins last week. The Spartans defeated VMI, 85-79, on Jan. 31, before topping Furman, 89-87, on Feb. 4.
 
In the contest with VMI, Langley finished with 17 points, including four makes from behind the arc, three rebounds, four assists, four steals and a block. Four days later, the graduate student logged a career-high 30 points at Furman, connecting on six 3-pointers in the game. Langley also had four rebounds, two assists and two steals against the Paladins.
 
Langley’s 30-point performance marked the third time this season that a Spartan scored 30 or more points in a game. The High Point, North Carolina, product’s performance against the Paladins also led to him being named the Field of 68’s Player of the Night.
 
For the week, Langley averaged 23.5 points and 3.0 steals per game, shooting 50 percent from the field, 62.5 percent from long distance and 87.5 percent from the charity stripe.
 
UNCG (17-6, 8-2 SoCon) hosts Samford (20-3, 9-1) on Thursday in a matchup of the top two teams in the SoCon standings. The contest will air on ESPNU at 7 p.m. ET. The Spartans welcome Chattanooga (15-8, 7-3) on Saturday.
