SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG’s Ayanna Khalfani has been named Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Feb. 13-19, after averaging 15 points and 10 rebounds this week. The award is selected by the league office.

Khalfani helped lead the Spartans to two wins this week totaling 30 points, 20 rebounds, 11 assists, four blocks and two steals in games against Samford and Mercer. Against Samford, the Los Angeles, California, product scored 13 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out five assists in a 53-44 victory. She shot 50 percent from the field, while also contributing two steals and a blocked shot.

Two days later in a 69-49 win over Mercer, Khalfani scored 17 points and secured 10 more rebounds to earn her seventh double-double this season, tying her with Wofford’s Rachael Rose for the conference lead in the category. The graduate transfer shot 67 percent from the field and added six assists and three blocked shots for the Spartans.

UNCG (17-9-3, 6-5 SoCon) will travel to ETSU on Thursday before heading to Chattanooga for a Saturday afternoon matchup.
