Mercer’s Summah Evans named SoCon player of the week.

Forward went 7-of-7 from the three-point range on her way to a career high 26 points

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Summah Evans has been named Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 2-8, after capturing her first double-double this season. The award is selected by the league office.

Evans led Mercer offensively last week during the Bears’ 70-54 victory over Kennesaw State on Jan. 2. The senior forward scored a game-leading and new career-high 26 points, going seven-for-seven behind the arch, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out three assists. The Cairns, Australia product also contributed four blocked shots and five steals in her third appearance of the season.  

Mercer (6-10) travels to Chattanooga on Wednesday, Jan. 10, to open conference play.
