SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s  Darcy Nicholls has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all competition from Jan. 23-29. The selection is made by the league office.

Nicholls helped lead the Bulldogs to a pair of home victories over North Alabama and Troy last weekend. The native of Australia went undefeated at the No. 2 singles spot with a straight set (6-2, 6-1) win over North Alabama’s Izan Orgile
and a 7-5, 6-1 victory past Troy’s Carles Anton. Nicholls paired with teammate Will Gray at No. 3 doubles to go 1-1 over the weekend as the pair won their match against Troy 6-3.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to get back on the courts on Saturday (Feb. 10), when the team visits Alabama State in Montgomery, Ala.
