Furman’s Johnson Named SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week

Women’s Basketball forward notched double-double in final nonconference game, holds 3.52 GPA

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman women’s basketball forward Kate Johnson has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Jan. 3-9.  The selection is made by the conference office.

Johnson notched her second double-double of the season with a 22-point, 15-rebound performance during a 93-40 victory over Converse on Jan. 7. The Acworth, Georgia, product went 11-of-15 from the field in just 25 minutes of playing time and contributed two blocks and two steals to lead the Paladins to their tenth win of the season.

The junior is pursuing a degree in Business Administration and holds a 3.52 GPA.
