SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer forward Jada Moorman and Furman goalkeeper Addison Corn have been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition from Sept. 19-25.

Moorman, who also received the honor on Sept. 12, started both games for Mercer last week as the Bears dropped one match and picked up a tie in another. She played 74 minutes in the team’s 3-2 setback at Chattanooga on Sept. 21, scoring the first goal of the contest in the 24th minute. The sophomore from Cincinnati, Ohio, scored the game-tying goal in the squad’s 1-1 tie versus UNCG on Sept. 24, with the goal coming in the 18th minute. Moorman currently leads the SoCon in goals this season with nine.

Corn played all 180 minutes inside the net for Furman as the Paladins went 1-0-1 last week. On Sept. 21, the Marietta, Georgia, native had two saves in a scoreless tie with ETSU. Three days later, the senior had four saves as Furman defeated Western Carolina, 2-1, in Cullowhee. Corn holds a .833 save percentage for the season, which is tied for the lead in the conference.

Mercer (5-2-5, 0-1-1 SoCon) hosts Wofford (3-6-2, 1-1) on Thursday and ETSU (5-1-4, 1-0-1) on Sunday. Furman (5-3-2, 1-0-1) welcomes The Citadel (3-3-4, 0-2) on Thursday, before traveling to Chattanooga (8-2, 2-0) on Sunday.
